Yachts finished their Antarctic trip

Four yachts which had joined the round-the-world expedition of Rosrybolovstvo finished their trip to Antarctica.
On March 3, 2020, the Antarctic stage of the Russian Sails-2020 expedition ended in the Argentine port of Ushuaia.

The Antarctica-200 group consisting of the yachts Wind Dancer, Siberia, Mon Coeur and Xanadu conducted joint manoeuvres with the barque Kruzenshtern and the frigate Pallada, sailed more than 1,700 nautical miles, including 1,100nm in the Drake Strait and 600 nm in ice-bound conditions of Antarctica.

On February 18, 2020, group's flagship, Wind Dancer, and the yacht Siberia got anchored by the Russian Antarctic station “Bellingshausen”. The symbols of the expedition were solemnly handed to the Head of the Bellingshausen station.

On February 19, each of the yachts took her planned route. The "Marine Practice" crew visited five Antarctic stations of foreign countries, including Port Lockroy (Great Britain), Vernadskiy (Ukraine), Braun (Argentina), Gonzales (Chile) and Melhior (Argentina).

During the trip, the yachties closely cooperated with researches and helped them in their fieldwork.

On the way back "Marine Practice" crew encountered heavy weather conditions. Nevertheless they safely arrived at the port of Ushuaia on March 3 at 18.30.

The Marine practice educational center will conduct another expedition to Antarctica in February 2021.
