Ilya Shestakov summed up the current results

Deputy Minister of agriculture of Russia – Head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov summed up the results of the first part of expedition.
"Having made a decision to organize the expedition, first of all we wanted to remind the world about the role of Russia in the history of the great geographical discoveries and to demonstrate the role of our country as one of the leading Maritime states. There are about 700 cadets of Rosrybolovstvo institutions and shipboys from youth patriotic organizations who participate in the project. These are future seafarers, fishermen, defenders of Russia," said Mr. Shestakov.

The first stage of the expedition was over on February 22, when three sailing ships took their own routes after meeting in the South Atlantic and a 200-mile regatta.

During the first stage, all the ships called at 13 ports and sailed almost 35 thousand nautical miles. The vessels received 22,278 visitors.

After the regatta, the second stage of the round-the-world expedition began-the focus was shifted to the anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. "Sails of Peace" will tell the world about the tragic pages of history in the most remote places of the planet. Events dedicated to the feats of Soviet soldiers and liberation of countries from fascism will be held in foreign ports.

The first session of the Russian-Argentine Commission for Fisheries was also held in Buenos Aires, where Krusenstern is staying from March 1 to March 4, 2020.

The Commission was established to implement the agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of the Argentine Republic on cooperation in the field of fisheries and aquaculture, concluded on December 1, 2018.

The parties discussed the current state of things and prospects for the development of the fishing industry in each country. They also exchanged information on the main areas of scientific research. The parties analyzed mutual trade in fish products and the possibility of expanding imports and exports in the future.
